The good fishing this summer has continued into September. It is starting to feel like fall with cooler night time temperatures but the day time has remained sunny and warm. There are tons of options for fishing around San Diego right now. Inshore the Bonito fishing has really turned on and they can be found along the kelp beds. Mixed in with these are some nice Yellowtail and a few short Barracuda. Calico Bass continue to bite in the kelp beds when the conditions are right. In the bay the Spotted Bay Bass action has been on fire while the Halibut action has slowed down a bit until the big fish begin to migrate in during the winter. Still plenty to be had if you put the time in. We have also been targeting spotted bay bass with fly fishing tackle on a few of our charters lately and have had great success! San Diego Bay is a great place for beginners to learn to fly fish as it offers wide open casting and you will have plenty of chances at hooking a fish! Book a trip now to get in on the action!
