October was a great month for fishing in San Diego! Inshore the quality Bonito continue to provide consistent action. These fish are a ton a fun to catch on light tackle and great for people of all skill levels. Outside of Bonito, we have focused most of our effort inshore on Rockfish. As the water continues to cool these tasty bottomfish will began to move into shallower water and will provide fun action through the winter months! In the Bay the fishing remains excellent with a variety of catches over the past month. Calico Bass, Sand Bass, Sculpin, and Halibut have been biting in the deeper channel areas. We even released an estimated 40lb Black Sea Bass on light spinning tackle! Further back in the bay the Spotted Bay Bass have provided consistent action, with the odd halibut mixed in. We have also been trying our hand at shark fishing for a few hours each trip with great results! Smoothhound sharks, bat rays, and shovelnose guitarfish have made up the majority of then catch.
